Mandatory Reporting of Cyber Attacks on Critical Infrastructures

The population, authorities and companies are exposed to the risk of a cyber attack on a daily basis. So far, such attacks in Switzerland are only reported voluntarily to the National Cyber Security Centre NCSC (NCSC_CH). As a result, there is currently no overview of which attacks have taken place and where.
To change this, a reporting obligation for critical infrastructures and the anchoring of the NCSC as a national reporting center will be introduced. In the future, this will give the federal government a critical and necessary overview of cyber attacks that have taken place in Switzerland and the attackers' modus operandi. These steps are considered important steps towards improving cybersecurity in Switzerland.
The bill not only requires all companies to cooperate in the exchange of information, but also requires the NCSC to provide subsidiary support to reporters in responding to cyberattacks.
